The PII package for Japanese is a set of guardrails that protect personally identifiable information (PII) from exposure. Each guardrail targets a specific data type. Use this reference to identify available guardrails.

Guardrails

Name	Description
Japanese credit card number guardrail	Payment card numbers (PANs) used in Japan (typically 13–19 digits) to prevent exposure of credit/debit card details.
Japanese car registration guardrail	Japanese vehicle registration/license plate identifiers (region + class number + kana + serial digits) that can identify a vehicle/owner context.
Japanese passport guardrail	Japanese passport numbers printed on passports (commonly an alphanumeric passport number) to prevent disclosure of passport identifiers.
Japanese email address guardrail	Email addresses (for example, name@example.jp) that can identify or contact an individual.
Japanese phone number guardrail	Japanese telephone numbers (domestic formats and/or +81) that can identify or contact an individual.
Japanese residence card number guardrail	Residence Card numbers for non-Japanese residents, used in immigration/residency administration.
Japanese My Number guardrail	Japan’s national individual number (My Number), a 12-digit identifier assigned to residents.
Japanese My Number card serial number guardrail	Physical My Number Card serial/card number (distinct from the 12-digit My Number).
Japanese full name and postal address guardrail	Combination of a person’s full name and Japanese postal address, which is highly identifying.
Japanese MAC guardrail	MAC addresses (device network interface identifiers) that can be personal data when tied to a user/device.
Japanese pension number guardrail	Japanese public pension identifiers (for example, basic pension number) used to administer pension benefits.
Japanese IP guardrail	IP addresses (IPv4/IPv6) that may identify a device/session and be personal data in context.
Japanese driver license guardrail	Japanese driver’s license numbers used for identity verification and traffic administration.
Japanese date of birth guardrail	Dates of birth in common Japanese/international formats.
